- Fill a 3 quart saucepan with water ¾ of the way.
- Add salt.
- If you’re using them, add the juice of a lemon along with the peel and flesh once it’s squeezed. Add peppercorns and parsley as well.
- Bring the pot to a rapid boil over high heat.
- Remove the pot from the heat until it stops boiling.
- Add the frozen shrimp and stir.
- Put the lid back on the pot and let it sit off the heat for 5-6 minutes.
- If you’re serving the shrimp cold, prepare an ice bath.
- Drain off the hot liquid and either serve immediately or transfer the shrimp to the ice bath.
- Serve as is or peel them first.
How to Cook Shrimp Perfectly
When talking about how to cook shrimp perfectly, I feel as though butter and garlic come into the equation.
You can take this basic method up a notch and use it to make shrimp scampi. It’s important to note that when making shrimp scampi, pasta is not required but that is how it’s traditionally served.
So, how do you cook perfect shrimp? Read on to find out.
- Warm olive oil and butter in a medium skillet over medium heat and swirl to mix.
- Once the butter is all melted, reduce the heat to low and add your garlic and red pepper flakes.
- Stir these together and cook for 1 minute.
- Increase the heat to medium high and add your salt and shrimp.
- Stir and cook until the shrimp are pink and opaque. This should take 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer to a plate and serve!

The Instant Pot is a miracle of modern cooking. You can easily cook shrimp in your Instant Pot.
All you have to do is follow these instructions.

- Make sure it’s set to sealing position and cook on high pressure for one minute.
