These Air Fryer Sausages and Peppers make a great weeknight meal and are done in about 20 minutes with minimal mess.
I’m a big fan of sausage and peppers. I make Sheet Pan Sausage and Peppers pretty often which is great for a group, but when I’m cooking for four or less I make Air Fryer Sausages and Peppers. It’s a simple and satisfying meal that everyone enjoys.

What Kind Of Sausages Should I Use?
I use Italian sausages for this, but the specifics are up to you. You can use turkey or pork, mild or spicy, whatever you and your family enjoy!
How Do I Keep The Peppers And Onion From Getting Oily?
You want to make sure that the peppers and onion are going on top of the sausages in the air fryer. If you put them under the sausage, they will get too oily with the fat from the sausage cooking.
If your air fryer doesn’t drain away the fat, you will want to use an air fryer rack to keep the sausages from sitting in the fat. My air fryer has a perforated basket so that the extra fat drains off.
What About Cheese?!
You know I love cheese, but I’m leaving it optional here because I don’t think it’s an absolute requirement. If you’d like, you can separate the sausages and peppers into piles in the air fryer, put a slice of cheese on each portion, and put back it in the air fryer for a minute at the end of the cooking time to melt. Then, scoop out into your rolls! Or, if you’re toasting your rolls under the broiler, melt your cheese directly on there.
Enjoy! Christine xo

DESCRIPTION
These Air Fryer Sausages and Peppers make a great weeknight meal and are done in about 20 minutes with minimal mess.
Ingredients
- 3 bell peppers
- 1 large onion
- 2 tsp. olive oil
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 Italian sausages
- 4 hoagie rolls
Instructions
- Slice the bell peppers and onion. Mix in a medium bowl. Add the olive oil and salt. Toss.
- Put the sausages into the air fryer. Top with the peppers and onions.
- Air Fry at 400°F for 8 minutes. Stir the peppers around, flip the sausages, re-arrange the peppers and onions around the sausages now that they’re softer, exposing the sausages more so they can brown well.
- Cook until sausages are brown and cooked through and the peppers are nice and soft, 8-10 more minutes.
- While the sausage and peppers are finishing cooking, split your hoagie rolls and toast them in the toaster or under the broiler.
- Assemble and enjoy.
