Air Fryer Steak Fajitas

Making fajitas has never been easier or more delicious than in this Air Fryer Steak Fajitas recipe!

Ever since I was a kid, steak fajitas have been one of my favorite dinners. My mom would make them every time we had leftover steak – they’re a great way to stretch a little bit of meat into a full meal. Of course, I never knew that she made them to save money. I thought they were a special treat and I loved stuffing my tortillas with as much filling as I could and letting the warm juice run down my arms as I ate.

These days, I eat them a little more gracefully. Cooking the filling in my air fryer lets the grease drain away while getting the steak and the vegetables slightly charred and full of flavor. Once you make steak fajitas in the air fryer, you’ll never go back to making them in a frying pan again!

What Kind Of Steak To Use For Fajitas

In my opinion, the best beef for fajitas is skirt steak. It’s very tender and can be cooked well without getting tough. It also soaks up marinades really well for tons of flavor. Flank steak also works really well. It’s a little tougher but has great beefy flavor.

You can also make air fryer fajitas with leftover sirloin or boneless strip steak. If using steak that’s already been cooked, keep a close eye on the cooking time. You’ll only need to cook it for 3 or 4 minutes to warm the meat through.

Whichever steak you use, be sure to slice it across the grain to maximize its tenderness. You can also use these steak leftovers for amazing Steak Quesadillas!

How To Season Steak Fajitas

Some people use a dry rub on steak fajitas, similar to the seasoning on this air fryer chicken fajita dinner. That’s good, but I prefer using a marinade in this recipe. My go-to quick marinade for fajitas includes lime juice, olive oil, and soy sauce. I add garlic, cumin, and chili powder for extra flavor. If you have a bit more time, I do also suggest trying the chipotle-citrus marinade used in this Carne Asada recipe. It’s truly amazing!

Fajita Toppings

This air fryer steak fajita filling is so tasty that you don’t need to add any extra toppings, but what’s the fun in that? I like to set out dishes of salsa, sour cream, and guacamole so everyone can customize their plates. Lime wedges and fresh cilantro are also great for adding a pop of bright, fresh flavor.
