DESCRIPTION

This oatmeal is creamy and rich but it’s not at all sweet. Instead, it has garlic, smoked paprika, and a touch of cheese. To serve, heat a portion in the microwave and then drizzle it with a bit of milk and top it with diced tomatoes, green onion, and avocado. Or, go in with a fried egg!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups steel cut oats
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 3 American cheese slices

Instructions

  1. Measure the oats into the Instant Pot. Stir in the water.
  2. Add the garlic cloves, salt, chili powder, and smoked paprika. Stir.
  3. Tear each cheese slice into 4 pieces and arrange all the pieces in a single layer over the other ingredients.
  4. Set the Instant Pot to pressure cook on high for 4 minutes.
  5. After the 4 minutes are over, allow a Natural Release to happen by simply doing nothing until the pressure button on the lid drops down and it is safe to open and remove the lid.
  6. Stir the oatmeal.
