DESCRIPTION

If you have regular white long grain rice, this is the Instant Pot recipe for you! It turns out fluffy but not mushy, it’s ready in under 15 minutes, and it will stay warm safely for up to an hour.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 and 1/2 cups long grain white rice
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp. butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure the rice into a fine mesh sieve. Rinse it well under cool running water.
  2. Transfer rice to the Instant Pot.
  3. Add the salt and water. Stir.
  4. Set Instant Pot to pressure cook on high for 6 minutes. Set the valve to Sealing.
  5. After the Instant Pot has come to pressure and cooked for the 6 minutes, switch the valve to Venting to do a quick release of the steam.
  6. Once the steam has released, leave the Instant Pot in the Keep Warm setting for up to an hour.
  7. When ready to serve, remove the lid from the Instant Pot. Fluff the rice gently with a fork. Add the butter, if using, and fluff again to mix it in.
