Mexican Chicken Salad with Yogurt

This chicken salad is made with yogurt instead of mayonnaise. It also has some salsa and lime juice for Mexican flavor. It’s fantastic in a sandwich or piled onto a salad and, of course, in all kinds of tacos!

Mexican Chicken Salad with Yogurt

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a webinar hosted by Stonyfield all about grassfed yogurt. This was in honor of Stonyfield’s new line of whole milk grassfed yogurt, which I’m completely addicted to. It’s so rich, creamy and satisfying. The flavored varieties aren’t overly sweet either, which I adore.

The thing that stuck with me the most from the webinar was a presentation by Dr. Drew Ramsey, author of 50 Shades of Kale and Eat Complete. He was explaining that there are 21 nutrients that fuel our brainpower and can transform our health. Amazingly, all of these are found in grassfed whole milk yogurt.

He said that we need to find ways to get more of it into our diets. One idea he has is to find savory uses for plain yogurt. We all know how to make a breakfast yogurt parfait or smoothie. But we can get more bits of yogurt into our diets here and there if we learn how to incorporate yogurt into our savory dishes as well.

Inspired by that, I came up with today’s Mexican Chicken Salad recipe. It uses the grassfed whole milk yogurt instead of mayonnaise. For the Mexican flavor, you just stir in salsa, store-bought or homemade. It’s really simple and healthy and yet full of delicious flavor.

Mexican Chicken Salad with Yogurt


  • 3 Tbsp. Stonyfield Grassfed Whole Milk Yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. salsa
  • 1/4 tsp. lime juice
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups cubed cooked chicken


In a medium bowl combine the yogurt, salsa, lime juice and salt. Add the chicken and stir to coat. Use in sandwiches, wraps or on a green salad.

    Love that useful fact about 21 nutrients and brain power. I will have to add yoghurt back into my diet more regularly.
