Shake And Bake Pork Chops

Pork chops are delicious when coated with this Shake and Bake recipe of mine. The spices and seasoning mixed into the breadcrumb mixture play really well with the flavor of pork. It’s a really simple thing to throw together when you don’t want a plain chop, but you don’t want to spend all day marinating something.

This recipe is fast. Like quicker than takeout fast. You can whip up the homemade Shake and Bake in no time at all, and it takes seconds to coat the pork in it.

What Goes In Shake And Bake?

You can read all about my Homemade Shake and Bake recipe and the ways it can be used, but here’s the basics. I prefer regular breadcrumbs for this versus the larger panko breadcrumbs. It gets seasoned with onion and garlic powder, dried herbs, salt, and paprika. So good!

Here are the measurements for the one batch you’ll need for this recipe.

What Kind Of Pork Should I Use?

Speaking of the pork, I always opt for bone-in chops. Even when I’m making them on the grill or in the Instant Pot. ¾ of an inch thick is perfect for this recipe.

You can use boneless pork chops, but if they are too thin, they will be cooked through before the shake and bake coating is browned and crispy. I think bone-in chops tend to end up more juicy and flavorful though, especially if you aren’t brining the pork chops before.

After I coat the pork in the Shake and Bake, I lay it on a shallow sheet pan so it has enough room to circulate and get crispy in the oven. You don’t want to overcrowd the pork so use two pans if necessary. And then, it’s time to dig in when everything is baked to crunchy perfection.

Notes

*145°F is considered safe for pork according to the USDA. It will be moist and slightly pink in the center. If you prefer your pork fully white and well done, then go with the 160°F temperature.
