I’ve teamed up with Produce for Kids to bring you twenty-six simple healthy kid-friendly summer recipes that I know you’re going to enjoy all summer long!

Healthy Summer Recipes for Kids (and adults!) from

I’ve been working with Produce for Kids for the past year to develop recipes for their website and for various grocery store campaigns. I love working with them, not only because their mission is to educate families about healthy eating, but also because they raise so much money for children’s hospitals and charities. In the 11 years since they were founded, they’ve raised over 4.6 million dollars.

As a recipe developer, I don’t have much involvement with the fundraising efforts (beyond extreme pride at how hard they work and how much good they do). Instead, I put my energy into helping them come up with simple, healthy, kid-friendly recipes.

A lot goes into the creation of these recipes. We do our best to include as many fruits and vegetables as possible. We aim to cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts and sides. We incorporate vegetarian recipes and a lot of allergen free ones too. And we ensure that the recipes are easy enough for any home-cook to master. Once we’ve done that, we test the recipes. And then we send the recipes to a registered dietitian to make sure that they contain enough of everything that your family needs, and not too much of the stuff they don’t.

The final step is photography. With the help of the Produce for Kids team, I come up with creative ways to shoot the tasty recipes while always trying to highlight the fresh produce that make these recipes so wholesome and nutritious.

After the photoshoots are done, we get to share the recipes. Produce for Kids puts them up on their site and uses them in their in-store campaigns. You can see all their recipes here. And I feature some of the recipes here on my blog as well. You can see all of the recipes that I’ve featured here.

Today I’m giving you a peek at all the Spring and Summer recipes we developed together this year. There are 26 in all. Click on the pictures below to go to the recipes on the Produce for Kids site.

Oh, and know that we’ve already started working on another batch of recipes for you. These will be the fall lineup and will feature a lot of comforting foods as well as some great ideas for those Back to School lunchboxes. But don’t worry, I’m not veering into Back to School Season yet. Right now it’s all about summer, all the time. And I’m definitely going to be making the healthy summer recipes below again and again over the months ahead.
