Best Picture Nominee Drinks: A Countdown

Today I’m announcing my Countdown to The Oscars where I will be bringing you a different Best Picture Nominee inspired drink each day. Along with it there’s a giveaway for a $50 Macy’s gift card. Read on for details.

Back when The Hubs and I were first together we were avid movie-watchers. We didn’t really go to the theaters but, let’s just say we lived walking distance from Blockbuster and were on a first-name basis with the girlfriends, boyfriends, kids, spouses and pets of all the employees there.

In those days, I loved watching The Oscars. I knew who all the celebrities were and I had favorites for every category.

These days I still watch The Oscars.

But now I have no idea who anyone is.

And I haven’t even heard of most of the movies.

Last year while I was watching I was really bothered by it. Did becoming a mom somehow make me into an oblivious creature with no time to indulge in any cinematographic entertainment?

I vowed to change it.

So this year I came up with something to force me to see the best picture nominees.

I’m doing a count down to The Oscars with a drink in honor of a best picture nominees each and every day.

I’ll admit it up front. I have not seen all of the movies.

I’ve seen three of them.

I’ve read the book upon which one is based (I read it 11 years ago but I still remember all of its oceany tiger oddness vividly).

My parents have gone to see an additional two and have reported back with drink ideas for me.

And I watched the trailers for three of them. (I’m hoping to get to see at least one more of these. It will depend on babysitters and having kids without constant coughs and runny noses).

So let’s just say that I have a better idea of what the best picture nominees are all about and who the actors and actresses are than I did last year. And I certainly have enough info to bring you drinks inspired by each film. The idea here is that, if you, like me, haven’ t seen all the movies come Oscar Night, you can sip on these drinks and find yourself getting a feel for the film in liquid form.

I think it’s gonna work!

In addition to all the drinks I’m bringing you, I’ve also got a little giveaway going on. It’s a $50 Gift card for Macy’s. My thought is that you can use it to buy some cool glassware to serve my Best Picture Nominee Drinks in.

Or you can buy a new shirt.

Your card. Your choice.

There are many ways that you can enter the giveaway, all using the rafflecopter below. For instance, you can follow Cook the Story on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter (current fans can get credit for this as well) or you can pin a Best Picture Nominee Drink to Pinterest, Tweet about a Best Picture Nominee Drink or head over to the Cook the Story Facebook Page to comment on any of my posts there. Note that some of these ways to enter won’t be possible until tomorrow when the drinks start rolling out. See the Rafflecopter for details.

The contest closes on Oscar Night at midnight when I will be announcing:

“And the winner for Best Cook The Story Drink-Lover goes to….”

The giveaway has ended and the entry form has since been removed from this post.

Now tell me, which Best Picture Nominees have you seen and which one is your favorite?
