Balsamic Vinegar Berry Smoothie
Learn how to use balsamic vinegar to sweeten your smoothies. It’s delicious and it’s good for you too. This post is sponsored by Pompeian Oils and Vinegars.
I’ve been paying a lot attention to vinegar lately. Why? Well, vinegars are a delicious way to flavor foods and they have amazing health benefits too.
You’ve probably heard that apple cider vinegar is good for you. Red wine vinegar, especially if you can find one that contains “the mother” is possibly even better. What is the mother? It’s the dark, cloudy substance formed from naturally occurring pectin and apple or grape residues found in organic, unfiltered and unpasteurized vinegars. The mother contains healthy bacteria filled with a high volume of polyphenols (antioxidants). Pompeian Organic Red Wine Vinegar contains the mother. Consuming two tablespoons per day offers the maximum benefit from the high volume of polyphenols, which improve digestion, boost the immune system, combat cholesterol, prevent dandruff, sooth sore throats, keep skin healthy, and reduce excess fat in cells, promoting weight loss.
Another healthy vinegar is balsamic vinegar. I love this stuff. Who knew it had health benefits too? Why is it healthy? To use it as a sweetener is great because it only has 14 calories per teaspoon. It also normalizes blood pressure and stabilizes cholesterol levels. That’s why I decided to try sweetening a smoothie with balsamic vinegar instead of honey or any other sweetener. I went with the Pompeian Organic Balsamic Vinegar here. It’s made from select, organically grown grapes from Modena, Italy, and harvested at the ripest moment to make sure it has the highest level of flavor. It’s also caramel color-free and naturally gluten-free.
What else is in this smoothie? Kale, half of a banana, frozen berries and Greek yogurt for some protein punch. It’s really delicious and so good for you too. Enjoy and have a great day!
